Practical skills are a core competency of manufacturing professions training. Those practical skills are mainly developed by hands-on manufacturing labs in university education. However, the hands-on lab instruction is limited by the availability of lab required resources. This proposed project will exam if integrating hands-on oriented videos in lab teaching can improve students’ practical skills. Three aspects will be studied, including video topic selection, lengths of video, and pace of playing video and instruction. These findings could provide guidance to develop pedagogy for video aided lab teaching in engineering
